Star Wars I – VII Marathon

And so it begins.

I’m currently sitting in the movie theater awaiting the first of seven Star Wars movies to begin. The local movie theater is doing a marathon, which concludes with the much anticipated, seventh installment of the Star Wars series. This blog will serve as the “book of record” for my experience over the next 18 hours.

I’m operating on approximately 4 hours of sleep. Not great sleep either, it’s tough falling asleep when you know it won’t be long before you’re driving to the movie theater like a crazy person. I’ve got food for the entire trip planned…nuts measured out, peanut butter banana sandwiches, apples, berries, and a 32oz thermos full of coffee. I’m planning on taking at least a 10min walk between each movie, and monitoring my calorie intake to ensure I don’t overeat and become groggy.

Lucky for me, the theater brews starbucks coffee, so I’ve got one cup down already with many on the horizon. We arrived at the theater at 2:15AM to find there were a good 50 people ahead of us. The concession clerk informed me that 267/300 seats were sold. 22 minutes away from the premiere of episode I and the theater is more than half-full. Most people are in comfortable clothes (jeans, sweat pants, etc.), but there are a few costumes. Mainly Darth Vader t-shirts and one chick dressed as the female protagonist of episode VII.

Right now, I’m exhausted. Even with the excitement of episode I starting soon, I feel I could easily fall asleep. It’s going to be an uphill battle to stay awake for the entire series.

Next update after episode I. May the force be with you, always.
